The couple were heard asking, “Where is the boy ?”. “How is the boy ?”. “Did he eat OK ?”. “Did he catch some Z’s ?” When the son was finally brought out it was a rather emotional Pomeranian, which should not come as that big of a surprise. Many dog owners think of their dogs as children, and there is nothing wrong with that. So you take your children to the doctor, then why not take your dog.

So we know that dog owners love their dogs, but it does not always translate into taking them for a dog annual checkup. We as people, remind each other on the onset of winter to get our flu shot, and mind as well get a checkup while we are at it.

Dog Annual Checkup

You as a dog owner are responsible for the health of your canines. So you will need a vet to help with that, so choosing a vet is the first step. You want a vet that will give your canine the proper veterinary care and attention. You want to ask a vet as many questions as needed, so find one that you can build a relationship that is open and honest, with your dog’s health being the top priority.

Make sure you get to know your vet’s work ethic when choosing a vet, and what their point of view is. This way you will build up a trust with your vet, so your dog gets the best care possible. Keep the lines of communication open so ask a vet whatever you want and no question is a dumb question.

What I also look for in a good vet is their compassion for my animal. Do they truly enjoy dogs, or are they just another dollar sign ? Dogs can sense when someone is rough or even afraid of them, which will make for some nasty doctor’s visits.
